Silly's is the favored cheap-eats joint among even jaded Portlanders, and despite moving to a new location in the '90s, it has never lost favor. Situated on a ragged commercial street, the interior is bright and funky, with mismatched 1950s dinettes and an equally hodgepodge back terrace beneath improbable trees. The menu is creative, with everything made fresh and from scratch. The place is noted for its roll-ups ("fast Abdullahs"), a series of tasty fillings piled into fresh tortillas. Among the best: the shish kebab with feta and the sloppy "Diesel," made with pulled pork barbecue and coleslaw. The fries here are hand-cut, the burgers big and delicious, and the milkshakes thick and good. The rotating selection of homemade ice creams varies, but tend to be, shall we say, unique (such as cinnamon basil or avocado and lime).
