The center is devoted to bringing acts from around the globe to Portland. Venues range from area theaters and churches to the center's small but handsome performance space in a former dry-cleaning establishment facing a statue of the pensive poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Acts range from pan-Caribbean dance music to klezmer bands to Quebecois step-dancing workshops. It's worth stopping by the center (it hosts a tiny cafe for an afternoon caffeine boost) to see what's coming up. You just never know.
